A huge well done to everyone who took part in the show cross today, thank you to Annie Millar for letting us host the event at Timpendean, and to Bob & Ruth Black for Judging. Everyone seemed to enjoy their day and the weather was even kind to us!

Sun 4 Aug 2013

This Sunday ride was kindly organised by Bob Black, and left from Denholm Mains.  A total of 17 riders turned out for this ride, the weather was very kind to us, and it turned in to a lovely sunny day.

We even had 2 guests from the Peak District who were holidaying in the Borders and heard about our club!

The route was from Bob's hay field round the recently topped margins of a couple of barley fields and through the wood towards Spittal Tower then along the top of 4 grass fields where we all got a canter, some were a bit on their toes but everybody managed to stay in control, then over the moor at the east side of Ruberslaw to Blawearie where we stopped for a quick refreshment, at this point a few took the shorter return route home and the rest carried on up through the woods towards Billerwell then a short climb up the South side of Ruberslaw and along the side of the hill to Hallrule,  the view from here was amazing, as it was such a nice clear day you could see for miles, we came down of the Law and returned to Blawearie via grass fields and the track down the wood again, then over to Towerburn where everybody got a final canter around one last field before returning through the wood and round the 2 barley fields again back to the horse boxes. The whole route took about 3 hours, a lot of the second half of the ride was mostly walking but as it was such a nice day there didn't seem any point in rushing.

Thanks to all the land owners for allowing us across their land and everyone who helped out.
