Police Newsflash Suspicious Person
A horse owner has contacted the SSPCA to advise finding a person claiming to be one of their Inspectors in a field containing horses. This was about 1200-1230 on 2nd June in the area of Jedforest Deer Park.
In conversation this person has stated they were from the SSPCA carrying out a welfare check on the horses and asked questions about micro-chipping.
The person is described as female, about 30 years, medium build, brown hair with ginger/blonde hi-lites, hair tied back, very bright blue eyes, dark trousers (navy or black), blue/grey shirt, and sleeveless jumper.
They left in a black transit van with a small SSPCA logo on the rear door.
Enquiries with the SSPCA reveal that they are not aware of any of their Inspectors in the area at that time and do not recognise this description.
Should anyone have information which may assist our enquiries or help to identify those responsible we would ask they contact Hawick Police Station on 01450 375051. Should you believe a crime is in progress please call 999.
REMEMBER – ANY SUCH INSPECTOR WILL HAVE AN IDENTITY CARD. They would normally be in uniform and their vehicles carry numerous logos on most panels.
